Working intuitively with her materials Lorraine, produces a wide range of bespoke figurative and abstract sculptures, always striving to create original work which engages and challenges the viewer.
"I found it hard to carve at the scale I wanted so trained to use a chainsaw so I can work on a larger scale and interact with my sculpture in a very immediate way"
Lorraine is able to develop designs through consultation or follow and interpret a given brief to produce work to a high specification appropriate for public spaces.
Schools and community work
As an ex-teacher and art lecturer, Lorraine has a wealth of experience working with both children and adults in a workshop situation, helping them generate ideas that are viable to develop into a final sculpture giving a true sense of involvement.
Practical workshops help to develop skills and a sense of achievement through participation, helping promote a sense of ownership and a healthy interaction between children and works of art.
"It is important to work closely with a client to arrive at an original solution to their requirements; a beautiful sculpture that fits them and their garden."
Lorraine regularly exhibits her sculpture around the country and takes part in chainsaw carving competitions and demonstrations nationally and internationally.
Design and carving courses are available on request. Hand carving and carving with power tools tuition is offered at all levels, but chainsaw carving is only available to those already experienced with saws and carry their own insurance.
